Startling Statistics

Posted on April 6th, 2005 by Patty Harder in Diet Logs, Weight Loss

According to Overture, a Yahoo company that offers pay-per-click Internet advertising, the word “exercise was part of a search term used by more than 237,000 visitors last month. The word “diet was part of a search term 814,000 times.

Perhaps more startling is that the words “weight loss were part of an Internet search term 1,415,194 times last month. Among those nearly 1.5 million “weight loss searches, the term “weight loss product was used 460,634 times in a single month. “Quick weight loss generated 27,235 searches.

This tells us that weight loss is a significant issue in the world and that people are looking for answers. It also tells us that people really are looking for a magic bullet or quick fix for their weight dilemma.

“Quick weight loss typed into Google generates more that 14 million search results. Pills, centers, diets and fad items are listed one after another, all hoping for a share of the massive diet industry dollars.

“Healthy weight loss in Google generates just 8.5 million search results. Still significant, but the results are more focused on education, with many sites offered by the government. More worthwhile, these results aren’t nearly as exciting as “Lose half your bodyweight overnight with no effort on your part.

With the advent of The Diet Logs, Ninerniner is making a positive contribution to the weight loss revolution.

Bring on the searches!
