There is More to Low Carb than Eggs and Ham.
March 29th, 2008 by Janice ChambersDieting has neverr been my cup of tea. I could never picture myself eatting smaller food portions and running a mile each day, just to maintain a size twelve. Eventhough, I have tried several “changes in my way of eating” in the past few years, the only thing that has ever worked for me was the low carb diet.
Almost five years ago, I was suffering from hypertension and hypothyrodisom. Each time that I had a doctor’s visit, my good doctor would remind me that I was obese. I was weighing over 210 lbs in a 5′1 frame. This was not a pretty sight.
Each time that I would undress, I could feel my stomach and my other moveable female body parts flopping with a sigh of relief.
Several of my co-workers were having the gastric bypass operation. I refused to go that route, and looked for a better and easier way for me to lose at least forty pounds. I found out about the low carb diet my doing a lot of research. I decided that this was the only way to go for a thick sister, who loved to eat, to go.
When I first started the low carb diet, I followed all of the rules. I drank at least ten eight ounce glasses of water per day. Sugars and starches were forbiddened in my diet. Caffiene went down the drain, and Splenda came to the table.
Amazingly, I lost over 10lbs my first week. I was so encouraged until I started walking for at least thirty minutes per day to speed up my metabolism, and to reduce my cravings for sweets. Within six months time, I had lost over thirty pounds. On my 44th birthday, I was weighing 165lbs.
Not only does low carbing allow you to eat and get full, it reduces the amount of fulid that is stored in your body, producing a leaner, healthier look. I was eatting large quantities of proteins (fish, chicken, tuna, salmon and an occasional steak) each day. I also enjoyed steamed vegtables and salads. I learned how to make the high protein, almond cake and my own ice cream for desert. I had never felt better.
A few months after I changed my way of eating, I left my high stressed job and became a work at home Mom. I am no longer taking any medications. I take a multivitiam each day. I am in better health now than I was when I was in my late thirties.
The Low Carb way of life is not for everyone. But it is the perfect diet whenever you want to lose a quick fifteen pounds, or rid your system or excess sugar and fluids.
There is more to low carbing than eggs and ham. You can enjoy delicious seafoods, soups, cauliflower salads, and use your imagination to create some wonderful dishes.
