The Fibromyalgia Diet
May 27th, 2008 by ffThere are different myths and theories out there about what people with Fibromyalgia should and should not eat. There are some people who say they cut out everything that contains preservatives and only eat natural foods, no fats, no sugar and no starches and their symptoms have improved. There are others who believe that Fibromyalgia patients should just follow healthy diet routine like the average American should. So who knows what the truth is. Good nutrition can help with healing the body.
One Fibromyalgia patient, Mary Moeller, said that she has went into remission from Fibromyalgia by eliminating certain foods from her diet. These foods include chocolate, carbonated drinks, alcohol and coffee. In her book, The Fibromyalgia Nutrition Guide, she advocates a more complete list of foods to overcome fatigue and for FM sufferers to feel their best. These 12 items to avoid are:
- fried foods
- high fat dairy
- white sugar/white flour
- preservatives, junk food and salt
- Coffee and caffeinated teas
- Colas, soda pop, and carbonated beverages
- Liquid with your meals
- Alcoholic beverages
- All forms of tobacco
- Prolonged periods of direct sun exposure
- Nutrasweet and saccharine
- Red meat
