Ten Tips to Cut 100 Calories
June 29th, 2008 by ffIf you are trying to lose weight or just trying to cut back on some of your daily caloric intake, here are ten great tips to cut 100 calories!
1. If you like your coffee flavored, use cinnamon and/or nutmeg instead of flavored syrup.
2. Cut the croutons. Leave the croutons off your salad and add more carrots or other fresh vegetables instead.
3. Chicken instead of pepperoni. If you love pizza and still want to enjoy that treat, order it with grilled chicken instead of pepperoni.
4. Portion control. Leave a few bites of food on your plate.
5. Herbs instead of butter. If you have trouble getting vegetables in (I’m guilty of this, too!), add some herbs instead of butter to give them more zip and flavor.
6. For desserts, go to the middle. The middle of the cake that is! There is less icing on the middle pieces.
7. Fruit juice instead of sugar. Instead of adding sugar to your iced tea, add some fruit juice to sweeten it up a little.
8. Skip the bag. It’s so easy to sit down with a bag of chips or pretzels and eat way more than you realize. Put some chips or pretzels in a small bowl and leave the bag in the cupboard.
9. No bread at the table. Ask at the restaurant for the bread basket to be removed. This way you aren’t tempted to eat more than your share.
10. Dip healthy. If you like to dip your foods, choose wise dipping choices. Dip your fruit choices into fat free yogurt; dip vegetables into bean dip or salsa.
