the health risks of dieting

June 30th, 2008 by kikai

Dieting has become to be one of the most talked about topic in the recent years. Hence, it became a girl’s favorite hobby especially if she feels she gaining more weight than she wants to have. But dieting can be dangerous. Before you think about doing it, let me share some of its “downsides”:

*Dieting forces your body into starvation mode. It responds by slowing down many of its normal functions to conserve energy.

*People on diet usually miss out on important nutrients like calcium, leaving them at risk for osteoprosis, weak teeth, etc.

*Dieters often experience physical reactions such as thinning hair, dehydration and electrolyte imbalances, and weakness.

*Medical studies have shown that people on diets have slower reaction times and a lesser ability to concentrate than people who are not on diet.

*Dieting can lead to an eating disorder.
