Diet Wars

July 21st, 2008 by cotton yuson

I was watching the news last week and I happen to pass by a discussion on different kinds of diet. Well it seems that low-carb diet is the winner. i am not even sure what are the components of a low-carb diet but i have been hearing a lot of diet kinds. there are quite a number of diet methods that promises weight loss and a healthier body. to mention a few and based from how i understand and from the knowledge i’ve gained from reading and watching tv, here’s a few of that diet kinds:

-the Mediterranean diet is all about mediterranean food, said it quite oily kind of diet and there should be a lot of fresh veggies and fruits plus whole grains and nuts and fish. the oil they use is olive oil so it makes it healthy.

-the atkins diet i think is the low-carb diet and promises fast weight loss when one maintains a low carbohydrates diet. this one is similar to an American diet where one restricts the intake of carbohydrate rich foods and a person in this kind of diet burns up their stored fat instead of the carbohydrates that is usually burnt down when one is not in this kind of diet. this kind of diet allows a person to eat red meat and fatty foods such as cheese and mayo coz it more on the protein and fat food diet.

-the south beach diet is more like the atkins diet as it is more on protein and fat and less on carbohydrates so rich carb foods such as rice, potatoes corn and even desserts and sweets. how sad. i don’t think i like this kind of diet at all.

- the cabbage soup diet, i’m not really sure what it is all about but it seems that this kind of diet is centered on a soup or a bottomless cabbage soup diet. for me this is not a healthy kind of diet method because you surely won’t have enough nutrition when all you have is soup all the time.

-vegan diet, or the vegetarian diet can be easily understood as no meat (pork, beef, chicken or fish) diet. its all organic, high fiber, soy products and vegetable diet plan.

other new diet plans and methods have came up and all promising healthy and weight loss effects. before starting on one, better take time for consideration if its really what you want and what you need. better yet, ask for your doctor’s advice as he/she may well know what’s best for you putting in consideration your healthy history.
