Master Cleanse
August 8th, 2008 by crystalThe Master Cleanse, also known as the Lemon Cleanse, was created by Stanley Bouroughs in 1941. The Master Cleanse involves eating no solid food, but instead drinking a mixture of fresh lemon juice, Grade B/Medium maple syrup, water and Cayenne pepper. It is to be consumed at room temperature. The mix contains some essential vitamins and minerals. The master cleanse is not a “fast”, proponents say it is more gentle on the body. It is a detoxification program that proponents recommended minimum of ten days, but it is not uncommon for people to stay on the cleanse for longer periods of time. I have heard of people doing this diet for 40 days…can you imagine…FORTY days of no food?! The longest I have managed was 5 days and I lost 10 pounds.
